No.
Pointless. GW2 will be the money maker.

No. I want ANet's attention focused on one game. GW was great, but it's time to move on. Any content added to GW1 at this point is going to be somewhat lackluster no matter how great it is, just because the game is so old, the economy is so flat, the best builds have been so well-tested, etc. Any bit of content would have much more entertainment value in GW2, so that's what they should focus on.

if GW2 does not sell, Anet will die. plain and simple. there won't be a chance to make another expansion of GW1. Anet has put all their eggs in one basket, and we can all hope it works out for them. making GW2 is an "all-in" move.

GW1 will die out there's no use putting money in the trash sotospeak. There will be a handful of diehards who won't leave until they shut it down and the poor who can't afford a new game or new game series.

IMO: No.
They should focus on making sure that GW2 lives up to the VERY high expectations people have.

You mean having a balanced PvE that actually promotes multiplayer for those who enjoy it? Allowing disruption to be a possible gameplay type and then support it when the rest the the game changes? I don't know about others, but Anet lost my trust.

Depends if I'll move onto GW2.
If I won't - I'd LOVE new GW1 content.
And I will - then ... what's a a GW1?

Should they? Yes, I'd love it if that was economically viable and GW maintained a strong player base and got regular expansions.
Will it happen? No. A few reasons.
1. ArenaNet doesn't want to even try that. Even if they did think it might work, their own famous laziness would stop them from doing anything with the idea.
2. Because GW2 is the sequel, it'll make people always inclined to play it rather than GW1. If they were under different names/settings or basically not under the same series continuity, it would be possible to maintain two player bases. But not if it's a series. People don't like playing the older games, mostly. Especially not online.
3. Probably not economically viable, for reason #2., and because of staff workload.

1. They will not fulfill the expectations of the naive.
2. They will meet the expectations of the jaded (much of guru, myself included) but these expectations are so low that they could release a game like daikatana or starcraft and we'd just nod and say, "told you so."

I'd like to see a new expansion but don't expect one. Not only that but a new expansion would further thin out the playerbase across additional outposts.

Here's hoping.

At first, I would agree that more content for GW1 would be great... but I have to agree with FengShuiDove on this one. It is also fair to assume that if ANET ever plan to phase out GW1 and shut down those servers, you would see the "Try now for FREE!" ad on www.guildwars.com go away and the game pulled from store shelves. Who knows what the future will bring to GW1, but Feng's post are my sentiments exactly.

They don't do a good enough job maintaining the current game, so I'd hate to think of them managing anything larger once GW2 goes up. I believe that they've also complained in the past with how hard it's become to keep the game in good condition with how many skills and everything they need to balance, so making that spectrum larger is also not desirable.

No GW1 is over, let sleeping dogs lie. Regardless of GW2 being great or not, the time for GW1 is no more.

If ANet needs to continue to support customers for GW1, then they should allocate resources to make more GW1 expansions even after GW2.
I dont think every single player in GW1 intends to move to GW2. ANet should also look out for the interest of such players.
GW1 and GW2 are two different games and they would never be the same. Why not continue to support both franchise?

Short answer: No.
Hell...im not even convinced they should have made the previous expansions. The game has gotten progressively worse with each one.

No, GW is finished. The story is over. The engine is old. (Although the game is still fun.) While the GW Live Team wants to give a fresh look to some of the festivals and perhaps some other small additions, they do not have the ability to produce a real expansion without taking assets away from GW2.
ArenaNet needs to concentrate their manpower on GW2 and it's expansions. That will be the source of their major income in the future.
